Students IL Journey

Term 2

Our Assembly
In Week 3 Room 37 and 38 planned and put together our assembly item. Our first meeting together was to get some ideas down for our assembly around science. We mixed up both classes and then brainstormed some ideas.

The next part Miss Steptoe and Miss Lologa got everyone's ideas and created a script around it.

When we met we worked out what parts people wanted to do. We had a range of parts from dancing to being hosts.

Math Communities with Room 37

Every Friday Room 38 and 37 do Maths Communities some people go to Room 37 and the others go to Room 38.

This is how it works the teacher gives you a piece of paper and glue it in your book then you show as many ways you know of figuring out a problem. Then you get in groups of three and share your strategies.

By Hamish

"Room 38 and room 37 have been  splitting classes every Friday so we can learn with different people.   There are 4 different stages.  The first stage is you have 15 minutes to work on the problems independently. Then you get  into groups of 3 or 4  and you share your strategies. Then you all decide what strategy you'll share with the whole group."

Collaboration Games
"Yesterday we had a Collaboration day where the parents came to our school and we were the teachers!! I thought that the parents did very well at hard working at our games. All of our hard work and team work was shown through out the afternoon and we are very proud."

Thursday 5th April

Here are some highlights from our Cooperative games with the parents. What a great afternoon! Great to see a good number of parents turn up and participate in the games. After our games everybody went in to Miss Steptoe's class. It was a good chance to get some feedback on the games from the parents as well as sharing our learning journey through our collaborative blog.

These pictures show our trial run of our games.  We were busy setting up the games and having them ready for Room 30 to come and play them. Of course, there were lots of things we had to change because many groups did not have enough equipment for their game. We had to use our problem solving skills to try and figure out a solution. Once we did that, we were ready for Room 30. There were lots to reflect on and after this first trial run some groups had to make a few changes to ensure the game was clear and easy for people to follow.

Here are some examples of our lesson plans:

Wednesday 5th April

Here are some of the groups invitations for their parents. This was one of the tasks each group had to do. Some created their invites using google slides, googles or using pic collage.

Great team work and collaboration everyone!

Room 37 and 38 have been busy working hard in their groups. Everyone has an assigned role:
The leader, Recorder 1, Recorder 2 and the Reporter. These are all very important roles and part of the process of working together as a team and sharing the load.

Here are both classes listening to Miss Steptoe as she goes through the planning guide used for each group to plan their games.

It is important to make sure that everything makes sense and that instructions and rules are clear.

We are in the final stages and now ready to rehearse before Thursday!

Room 37 and 38 are in their second session. They have been working in groups to discuss ideas and here they are sharing to eachother.

Here is Miss Steptoe talking to us about our collaborative activity. We will be covering a lot of areas: literacy, key compentencies and Concept. Watch this space for more updates.

We are looking forward to working collaboratively on this task.
